International Sitting
We went to a "traditional Swedish
culture" night. What we didn't realize was that it was traditional
in the sense of guys drinking and singing songs about beer and women.
Interesting. We ate Swedish meatballs, drank Pear Cider and Norrlands
beer and toasted most of the evening. You don't say "Cheers!"
here -- it's "Skål!" and everyone raises their glasses
and says "Skål!" back. |
Blondes!!
Jon with Carola and Anja (from
Holland.) We think that they look more "Swedish" than
most of the Swedes, with their blonde hair. Most people start speaking
Swedish to them because they don't realize that they're international
students. |
Wednesday night is the big night
for students to go out.
We're at the student pub, Kåren.
Left to right: Jon, Esther from Belgium,
Sebastiaan from Belgium, Birgit from Holland and Inge from Holland.

This is Mattias,
Jon's contact person. All of the international students have Swedish
contact people that they can get a hold of if they have questions
about anything. Mattias really likes the USA, which is why he
has a map of it hanging on his wall.

Every night of the introduction
week, Entré had parties for all of the international students.
Friday night was a tequila
party! Entré's sole purpose is to plan trips and parties
for students.

Rosie and Rob are
our good friends from England who hauled us and all of our luggage
around England for two weeks.
We had so much luggage that we
had to take both of their cars everywhere we went! Most British
cars are almost half the size of our big American cars. Rosie's
first comment when she came to the states and we all got in my car
was, "It's like a sofa!" |
