Jon & Emily

Originally from Nisland, Jon is a 1997 graduate of Newell High School. A farmboy at heart, his roots are in agriculture and he is now a graduate of South Dakota State University with a double major in Ag Economics and Ag Business with a minor in Ag Marketing, He served as South Dakota State FFA President during his freshman year at SDSU and has also been a member of the SDSU Statesmen men's choir for 4 years. His interests include travel, music, fish and aquariums, and building things.

Emily is a 1998 graduate of Howard High School. She has a degree in Journalism with a minor in European Studies from South Dakota State University. As a Briggs Scholar, studies were not Emily's only concern. She was also involved in Capers, student government, wrote for the Ag/Bio Vision and was the SDSU Collegian Web Editor for three semesters. A connoisseur of cameras, Emily's interests lie in photography, scrapbooking, and anything in the digital world.

We are both very interested in other countries and cultures different from ours. We've decided that we're not going to live wishing we could go places and do things. We're just going to do it. It's going to be a challenge, we know that, and that is what makes the experience great. Past travels for us have included Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxemborg, Scotland, Spain and Wales.

We hope to find careers that will allow us to travel the world on someone else's tab. If that plan does not fall into line, we may go back to school and work towards our master's degrees.
